Betway review: our verdict for Irish bettors
Betway’s Irish sportsbook names Gaelic sports and both rugby codes on a menu anyone can read without logging in. Its payment details are another matter, and this review is open about the difference.

At a glance
Sportsbook on its own Irish address, betway.ie, with the licence number and issue date quoted in the footer
Gaelic sports, rugby union, rugby league, football, horse racing and greyhounds all have menu entries
An In-Play section and cash out on the betslip; we found no mention of live streaming
Payment methods, limits and withdrawal timings are not on the public Irish pages
Five account tools from deposit limits to account closure; live chat linked, hours not published
What stands out: A wide sports menu on its own Irish site.
Think twice if you want payment methods and timings in writing before you join: we could not find them on Betway's public Irish pages.

Irish sport coverage
Four stars, the highest of Betway’s five scores. The public Irish menu gives Gaelic sports an entry of their own, lists rugby union and rugby league separately, and puts football, horse racing and greyhound racing beside tennis, golf, cricket, boxing, darts, motorsport, basketball, American football and Aussie Rules. For a reader in Ireland that is a good start. The missing star is about depth, which a menu cannot show: whether hurling and Gaelic football both carry match markets in the provincial rounds, how many Irish race meetings are priced on a given day, or how far the League of Ireland goes beyond the Premier Division.
Live betting & streaming
In-play has a section of its own, sports with live events carry an IN-PLAY label, and cash out appears in the betslip and in the footer links. Those are facts we could read on the public pages, and they carry the score to three and a half. Streaming is what keeps it there. We found no list of streamed sports and no conditions for watching, so we cannot say whether Betway shows any racing or matches in Ireland. As at any bookmaker, the cash-out amount is Betway’s offer at that moment, and it can be suspended mid-event.
App & site
Three stars, held back by what we could not verify. We could not confirm a Betway sports app for Ireland, or its ratings, from its public Irish pages, and its contact page and Irish help centre were unavailable to us when we researched this review. The sports site itself is straightforward to read: the menu is plain, sport names are spelled out rather than hidden behind icons, and account tools sit on a separate account.betway.ie address. Until the app and the help centre can be checked, we would not go higher.
Payments in euro
This is the score that pulls Betway’s average down, and the reason is simple. Betway does not publish its Irish payment methods, deposit and withdrawal limits or processing times on its public pages: the cashier sits behind the login, and the payment-methods address we tried returned a “not found” page. Third-party sites list methods, but we do not repeat figures that the bookmaker itself has not published. Two and a half stars reflects that gap, not a known problem with how Betway pays.
Safer-betting tools
Betway lists five tools on its Irish site, each with its own page on account.betway.ie: deposit limits, a session reminder, take a break, self-exclusion and account closure. Self-exclusion can be set indefinitely, which is the right option to have for anyone who wants a firm stop rather than a pause. We give four stars rather than five because the public pages do not state how often the session reminder appears or how long a break can last, details that some other bookmakers on our list put in writing.
Read Betway’s menu against an Irish sporting year and most of the big fixtures have a home. Spring brings the Six Nations and the National Football and Hurling Leagues; summer is the provincial championships and the All-Ireland series, ending at Croke Park; autumn and winter belong to the URC, European rugby and the jumps season. Betway lists Gaelic sports, rugby union and rugby league, so each of those has an obvious place to look. The League of Ireland season runs through the same months as the GAA, and football as a whole is on the menu.
Racing and greyhounds
Horse racing and greyhounds both have entries. For racing, the test is whether the day’s Irish meetings sit next to British ones on the race list, and whether each-way terms are printed alongside every race. The racing terms guide on this site covers place terms, non-runners and starting price. Greyhound races are short and come one after another, which is exactly why they suit a limit set in advance.
Bet Builder and the long tail
Bet Builder, which combines several selections from one match into a single bet, is listed on the Irish site. Beyond the main sports, the menu also runs to golf, cricket, boxing, combat sports, darts, motorsport, basketball, American football, Aussie Rules and politics. A long menu is useful; it does not tell you how many markets each event has, so open the sport you follow before you decide. If GAA is your main interest, our GAA betting guide explains scoring and the usual markets.
iv.
In-play and cash out, without the streams
Betway’s In-Play section collects events that are already under way, and the menu marks sports with live action. The betslip and the footer both refer to cash out, so the feature is part of the Irish site. We could not see, from outside an account, which markets offer it, or whether a partial cash out is possible.
How cash out works is the same everywhere: the bookmaker offers an amount based on the current state of the event and the current price. Accepting it settles the bet there and then. The offer is not a right, it can be suspended at any time — while a try is being checked, for instance, or a goal reviewed — and it is usually below what the bet would return if it won. Our live betting and cash out guide has worked examples.
On streaming, we came up empty. The public Irish pages say nothing about live video for any sport, and we did not want to guess. In-play betting without pictures means relying on a score feed, which moves on without waiting and gives little time to think; that is a good reason to keep stakes small and to switch on the session reminder before a match starts.
v.
On your phone: app and mobile site
We could not confirm a Betway sports app for Ireland from its public Irish pages, so this chapter is about the mobile site and about care. The sportsbook at betway.ie/ie/en/sports opens in a phone browser, and its account tools run on account.betway.ie.
Use the address you type yourself
Betway’s name is borrowed. During our research we came across a look-alike .com address that calls itself “Betway Ireland” and is not operated by Betway Limited. We do not link to it. Type betway.ie yourself, or use the link on this page, and check that the footer names Betway Limited and quotes licence number GRAI-0524-RB-26-0001 before you enter any details.
The same applies to apps. If one appears in your store, the developer named on the listing should be the licensed operator, and limits you have set on the website should already show once you log in. Our betting apps guide covers the rest, from permissions to notifications.
vi.
Support, terms and complaints
Betway’s Irish footer links to live chat. It does not publish the hours, the Irish contact page we tried returned “not found”, and its help centre redirected us away from the Irish version, so we cannot list an email address or phone number with confidence. If you need an answer before you open an account, live chat is the route the site itself offers.
Which version of the terms?
Betway’s Irish terms and conditions load only in a browser, and we could not read a version number or date from the public page. The footer does carry a version number, 20261001.2, but that refers to the website build, not the terms. Before depositing, open the terms in your account and note the version you accept.
Complaints, step by step
Start with Betway, keep a written record (the chat transcript, the date, your username) and give it a reasonable chance to reply. If your complaint is that Betway failed a duty it owes as a GRAI licensee, such as identity checks, paying winnings or closing an account on request, and it stays unresolved, use the GRAI complaint form. GRAI checks that licensees keep the rules; it does not rule on individual disputes.
On the regulatory record: the British Gambling Commission’s public register showed no action against Betway Limited on 3 October 2026, and GRAI had not yet sanctioned any licensee publicly.

Licence and terms
Betway is operated in Ireland by Betway Limited, which holds a remote betting licence from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland: GRAI-0524-RB-26-0001, issued on 1 July 2026. You can look it up on the GRAI public register; we last checked it on 3 October 2026.

Our verdict
Betway is the bookmaker on our list to look at first if Gaelic games and rugby are why you bet. Its Irish site names Gaelic sports and both rugby codes in the menu, offers in-play betting and cash out, and gives you five account tools, including self-exclusion with no end date. The licence number and issue date are printed in the footer of betway.ie.
The trade-off is paperwork. Betway does not put its Irish payment methods, limits, withdrawal times or support hours on its public pages, and we could not read the version of its terms. None of that is a sign of a problem, but it means you learn the rules only once you are inside. Read the cashier and the terms before your first deposit, set a limit while you are there, and remember that most bets lose.
Short answers from the bookmaker’s Irish pages and the GRAI register.
Who runs Betway in Ireland?
Betway Limited, a company registered in Malta (C39710). The footer of its Irish sportsbook at betway.ie states that the company holds a GRAI licence for sports betting.
What is Betway’s GRAI licence number?
GRAI-0524-RB-26-0001. It is a remote betting licence, dated 1 July 2026. It appears in the betway.ie footer and on the GRAI public register.
Is there a Betway app for Ireland?
We could not confirm a Betway sports app for Ireland from its public Irish pages; betway.ie itself works in a phone browser. Be wary of look-alike sites that use the name “Betway Ireland” on other addresses.
Does Betway stream live sport in Ireland?
Live streaming is not mentioned anywhere on Betway’s public Irish pages, so we could not confirm it. In-play betting and cash out are offered.
How do I set a deposit limit or self-exclude at Betway?
In your Betway account: deposit limits, a session reminder, take a break, self-exclusion (including indefinitely) and account closure each have their own page on account.betway.ie. Ireland’s National Gambling Exclusion Register is not yet operating, so self-exclusion covers Betway only. Blocking software such as Gamban or BetBlocker, and gambling blocks offered by some Irish banks, can add a second layer.
How do I complain about Betway?
Use Betway’s live chat first and keep the transcript. If Betway does not resolve a complaint that it has failed one of its licence duties, the next step is the complaint form on grai.ie; the regulator does not adjudicate individual disputes.
Which payment methods does Betway accept in Ireland?
Betway does not list them on its public Irish pages; they are shown in the cashier after you log in. Since 1 July 2026, GRAI licensees may not accept credit cards, so debit cards are the card option.
